Armstrong describes sending an agent the comment or bug via a Slack tag or internal harness and delivering a finished PR to the team for review, rather than pinging the team in Slack with ideas or bugs.

Coinbase built an internal agent harness called Toshi integrated with its tools; it can make calls to external vendors and pay using the agentic finance economy over the X402 protocols.

With tokenized assets, money can move at the speed of information, just like a WhatsApp message — you can gift a share of stock to your nephew by sending it to their wallet, without going through some complex, antiquated stock transfer process. Tokenized assets can all be traded on the Everything Exchange and sent back and forth.

Coinbase has a product called Coinbase Business that helps companies accept stablecoin payments out of the box, from both humans and AI agents.

Anecdote · Money
Instead of pinging the team in Slack with requests, Armstrong now tags an agent in Slack with the comment or drops it into the internal harness and sends the team a PR for review. He finds working this way addictive because ideas and bugs get done rather than queued for the team — and AI tooling now even allows the CEO to get back in and ship features.

Anecdote · Money
Armstrong describes asking a high-end model to plan a relatively complex feature broken into three phases of 10 pieces each, then instructing it to spin up 10 separate agents to execute phase one's pieces in parallel and recommend cheaper agent models where appropriate. The parallel agents used open source models and Grok, and completed all 10 phase-one pieces shortly before the podcast.

Armstrong describes asking a high-end model to plan a complex feature broken into three phases of 10 pieces each, then executing phase one by spinning up 10 separate agents in parallel. He finds working with AI agents this way addictive, describing the shift from pinging the team to sending finished PRs as a magical moment. The host adds that non-technical people who adopt AI agents best experience it like a video game, leveling up their capability set through recursive loops.

Principle · Money
Armstrong argues AI increases productivity and eliminates tasks rather than people: existing employees get much more done and the pace of everything accelerates. He does not believe companies will shrink headcount to 10 people; instead AI increases the velocity of the existing team.

There's something like 4 billion people in the world who don't have access to any brokerage or US investment account — the access gap tokenization and stablecoins address.

Recommendation · Money
Armstrong recommends that companies that started AI adoption with table stakes — coding tools, data-repository integration, ML for fraud/risk prevention, and AI-handled customer support — should then move toward recursive self-improvement systems.

Armstrong argues everybody should have access to an AI financial advisor now, the way wealthy people have investment advisors — and Coinbase has launched an advisor in the Coinbase product.

Armstrong frames cognitive enhancement as a race: AI is getting smarter and smarter, and humans need to at some point take control of our evolution and get smarter and smarter. The host frames it as how to increase the collective intelligence of humanity. Armstrong notes that in development of children, giving them enough folic acid and certain nutrients in certain countries actually raises IQ — they just develop better — and says he might host a dinner on cognitive enhancement, exploring ways to target therapies in adults, children, or embryos to level the playing field of baseline cognition and IQ that people are born with.

Armstrong invested in a company called Preventive that's doing embryo editing, which is a controversial topic — people have seen movies like Gattaca. According to Pew Research, about 80% of Americans support embryo editing for disease prevention — nobody wants rare genetic diseases for their children; everybody wants healthier, better lives for their children.

Creator perspective · Money
Armstrong states his main focus going forward is agentic finance at Coinbase, in a world where AI is getting smarter and there will probably be more AI agents than humans in the not-too-distant future. He argues humans still need to advance and progress even then.

AI agents today get stuck at paywalls and resource sign-ups (credit cards, AWS) because they lack their own spend accounts; providing agents with funds removes this bottleneck.

Principle · Money
Armstrong finds it fun and intellectually stimulating to create companies that can advance the world, but warns that trying to do multiple things too early is dangerous because the distraction can be really dangerous and arguably irresponsible. He cites Joe Lonsdale, Sam Altman, Palmer Luckey, Elon Musk, and Daniel Lech as examples of people who have successfully incubated multiple companies. He notes that at a certain size of company, a CEO and a pure investor are both capital allocators — basically just allocating budgets and capital — and that for a founder incubating companies, time is probably the most valuable part of what they contribute, more than capital.

Method · Money
Armstrong lays out New Limit's experimental pipeline: large pooled screens to find phenotypic hits for compounds that might reprogram cells; the best compounds go through functional assays, typically animal models, which are more expensive and slower; the best of those go into human trials. He notes this is harder than moving software.

Creator perspective · Money
Armstrong argues AI increases productivity and the velocity of existing teams, but that is different from saying average company size will shrink: people are not being eliminated, tasks are. AI gives more scalability off people — if revenue grows faster than team size, margins should rise over time.

Armstrong describes gathering his smartest CEO and scientist friends at a dinner and asking each one what's the most exciting, high-potential, underfunded thing on the horizon in their field — a method that surfaced epigenetic reprogramming, which became New Limit.
